End of Transportation 150th Anniversary

Robert Mitchell – Pensioner Guards and Local Forces

The arrival of the Hougoumont into Gage Roads marked the end of the transportation era worldwide.

The 9 January 2018 will mark the 150th Anniversary, the WA Genealogical Society (Inc.) and the Royal WA Historical Society (Inc.) are holding as series of Joint Presentations and Displays of Artefacts and Photographs of the men who came to the Swan River Colony both in chains and in Uniform.

Robert Mitchell, Executive Officer Museums Galleries Australia, Western Australia will talk about the Enrolled Pensioner Force who arrived with the Convicts and the Local Military Forces who looked out for the Settlers.
